James Shand

Jim brings more than 20 years of global human resources experience to R.I. Heller & Co., LLC. He provides expert human resource services specific to each client based on our own proven successful methodology.  Results are data based, measurable, and implemented rapidly. Jim’s expertise includes management development, leadership programs, succession planning strategies, recruitment and retention plans, merger and acquisition tactics, employee relations investigations (EEOC, FLSA and private litigation) and union avoidance programs.  He has worked in public and private companies world wide.

Jim has directed human resources at all levels within an organization and is expert at implementing human resource strategies, aligned with business strategies throughout. Jim has in-depth knowledge of the challenges of distributed management, and has successfully directed organizational reengineering efforts to meet those challenges. Jim developed the human resource due diligence process for mergers and acquisitions in the United States, Europe, and the Far East. He has successfully directed labor relations strategies and activities nationwide reducing labor and benefit expenditures while gaining increased productivity.

Jim has worked with a number of Fortune 500 companies in the retail and service industries including K-Mart Corporation, Dayton-Hudson, Budget Rent a Car and Wendy’s. His most recent assignment was with Advantage Rent a Car as a specialist in recruitment, development and retention. He holds an undergraduate degree in English and a Masters in Human Resource Management.
